Since birds have such a wide onomatopoeia, i thought it was a fun idea to play around with it.
the sound of "birds" would rather have me think of frogs, but I´m sure some species sing like that (just joking)



 
Somewhere In a creek this autumn,
all birds had gathered in anticipation.
Since they have an ancient custom,
Of sharing plans for the annual migration.
Both birds of song and birds of prey,
had made peace for just this day.
 
next to singing larks and canaries,
There was the jay and the magpie,
who shared some friendly chatter.
The swan, who disliked the latter,
would always object and cry;
mocking his poor taste in berries.   who´s mocking whom?
 
“Stop it swan, you always cause a fuzz!”
The hawk screamed with the vulture.           ... screamed with his voice or ...together with the vulture
“Let’s talk about our plans instead”, hooted the owl.
“Before things go out of hand”, gobbled the fowl.
“I plan to leave for the city”, cooed the dove,
“I’m fond of the humans and their culture.”
 
“And where are you heading?” cawed the crow.
“I plan on going east”, cackled the goose.
“But perhaps I’ll fly into a plane engine go south with the cuckoos!”
The chicken somberly pipped that she can’t go.
“Because your wings are too small! Chuckled the linnet.
“You can’t even fly and you’re too afraid to admit it!”
 
“Stop pecking at each other!” The bittern boomed
“I’m leaving, since you’ve all ruined my mood.”
“Anyone else who’s setting out?” he continued.
“I’ll be more than happy to join” croaked the raven.
“You are going to the west? A sparrow presumed.
“Yes” the eagle replied “to another haven.”
 
And thus the birds started their annual migration,
To which they had first gathered with such anticipation.

a fable, conveying that too many people can never agree on things, or maybe even political as in disappointment in democracy? i think if you use rhymes, then also use a scheme. or just let rhymes appear randomly, that way I think some of the lines could be omitted (for example " I plan on going east cackled the goose).
