Crazy Gaze

Bought an old mirror from a gal
whose Grandma once lived near Manila,

I think for 10 bucks when I just go to peep
I shouldn't see such a big fat gorilla.

I read somewhere
you can do a finger test,
to see if it's a sneaky two-way:

I smudged its surface
and let out a holler,
"Oh, NO!
There just ain't no way!"

I done covered it good with a sweet country apron:
pocket and ruffles done in brightest of red;

I really know better,
I hung that danged mirror,
it's really just all in my head.

But the garment's all cheerful and purty
actually looks quite cute hanging there,

givin' me nothing more than security's satisfaction,
as I laugh at gorilla warfare.
