Although really, this was what I thought of (I grew up somewhat surrounded by these titles, too, my sister read plenty, but I blocked those out of my mind, not wanting to feel something close to nostalgia for objects I never cared about in the first place, my prime interests then being mythology and dinosaurs):

Though considering all of the above, at least with the humor stripped, I can't help but feel that this poem has more sinister notes....

 “‘At’s right! Blame me! I ain’t s’posed to be no standin’ ahmy—I’s just a plain culled man with a wife and seven chillum a-dependin’ on me!”
