Many journals will Google the words of a submitted poem to check that
1. It's not plagiarism, and
2. It hasn't previously been published.
I had a poem of mine rejected recently (by a good Irish journal) because the publishers found it here, being workshopped. Their rejection letter made me feel like a worm. And this for a poem they were going to pay me 5 Euro for.
Then when Billy did an upgrade he changed the site, so threads were visible only to members. This was in response to multiple hits by spammers I believe, but it worked for me!
I posted some work in Miscellaneous, and Billy changed that to 'open to all'. So I moved it.
It really bugs me, this insistence by journals on 'unpublished' work. Do they only listen to new music? Do they never reread a favourite book?
