I can't get the map thing to work ... But that's probably me, technology is not my friend. 
And yes, there are lots of greusome children's stories from the olden days. I have a complete "Brothers Grimm" and in almost every story someone dies, loses a body part, or eats a child.
But parents are so overprotective these days, you can't write that stuff anymore.
