I have changed shock absorbers since I was a wee lad (12 years with dad's help) .
I started with our family's cars and continued with mine. In these last years, they
seem to have grown quite expensive (though, maybe, it's the lack of money that
makes this seem so). This lack of money has forced a tiny bit of wisdom upon me
(i.e. I've joined the real world); the result of which has brought me to the realization
that one doesn't need shock absorbers if one doesn't drive over rough ground (or one
drives very, very slowly). This, my more learned mechanic friends advise me, is trading
a horse for a lizard (while their ability to repair of cars is exquisite, their ability to
choose metaphors is somewhat less so).
But I must cling to my fantasies... they are all that's left of my world (typical writer
hyperbole, as who is wealthier than one who lives with 9 cats?) .
