Regardless, you haven't really addressed the issue that

if it is the job of a pipe
to convey water to a glass,
and if the glass is smashed,
the pipe cannot be blamed
for not conveying the water

but also, that the opposite is true, that

If it is the job of a pipe
to convey water to a glass,
and if the pipe is broken,
the glass cannot be blamed
for the water not being conveyed.
