I got my pen name (not the one I use on this site) the way my friends and I got our "famous author names" when we were kids - Your middle name becomes your first name, and the name of the street you grew up on becomes your last name. That makes me Jane Belvedere... which has rather a nice ring to it! 
Let's put Rowdy on top of the TV and see which one of us can throw a hat on him first.
