I've been horribly lax and awfully busy. Here's a quickie.
Once, but no longer
Wanting to make mama proud she learned
the banana bread recipe by heart.
At the age of seven she could whip it up
not even needing help with the oven.
She could turn smashed yellow mush
into a "specialty" that mama took
to potlucks and church meetings
and everyone grabbed for.
At thirteen years old she decided she no longer
liked bananas. Seven years later they paid
her back, inducing anaphalaxis.
