Freedom of expression in Poetry.
#86
Well see, there you go, arguing with something I didn't say. I said you can call it whatever you want just don't say art/poetry is a purely conscious endeavor.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So lets have a poll to find a word that everyone is comfortable with, that carries no negative connotations to call that non-conscious part of the mind that writes most of the poetry (although it leaves the editing mostly top the conscious mind).

I vote for "The Billy!"

Just don't call me a poet
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
McArthur Park

…McArthur Park,
left most poets stranded in the dark,
or in the process of getting raped,
gangbanged on a first blind date,
or maybe you’d prefer a prune,
if in your mind you have the room,
one is much the same as the other,
as close as a sister to a brother,
either way it hurts a little bit,
who with any sense would admit
to having poetry in his blood,
just to be tarred in shit and mud!
Imagine what people would say,
you might as well say you’re gay!
Didn’t really matter, they’re gonna beat
the holy fuck out of you either way.
Queer poet, poet queer, what do you
want for lunch, Beaver? Dear!
Says she when not talking jive,
inside an airplane in a dive.
Give that girl another slap,
then she’ll learn to shut her trap,
Who does she think she is,
some kind of poet, out on a lark,
I’ve a gun, a chain, and a knife if she gets ideas,
even I’ve heard McArthur Park!
But then all you need do is look at the source,
a low point in the career of a man called horse.
How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.
