Need an opinion on the older poetic forms

Of course Lord Byron wrote his cantos sometime in the 17 or 1800's I think. but it still has an old fashioned kind of feel.

I'll check it out. I'd like a shorter form if possible. I probably wouldn't be lucky enough to get to use a Troilet--probably too modern.
