America uses a higher percentage of GDP on health care than Canada does. But a lot of that money is diverted into profits for medical insurance companies and health care (hospital) corporations.

Canada provides tax funded health care at no individual costs to the entire population (with waiting lists for elective surgeries).
While America provides employer insured health care to around 80% of its population.

If we measure the quality of health care within nations by their life expectancy stats, then Canada is doing far better than America, and at a lower cost.

from what i've read and can see., the usa has one of the worst health care systems in the western world. (per what you get per dollar, per head)
