All proceeds to server maintenance. TOMHgreat idea TOMH but.....i would never use any money generated from such a thing for anything. while i can afford it, i'll pay for it (to not do so would be gooing against everything i had in mind when the site was started. it's free, of cash and ads.
the 2nd point and most important one i think is this, i wouldn't pick any poem over another for publishing or otherwise; mainly because i see a novice poem and know it's the start of a long and hopefully fruitful journey. i hate to have them think that just because they were novice they missed out. for me all those who genuinely want to improve are worthy of picking. so i couldn't choose the best of three from those put forward.
i've seen it on other sites and when someone gets picked, it's all back patting and lovey dovey stuff, but in the wings looking on are a lot that think... it's not fair, what's the point. it's the reason why we turned down the chance of joining a well known inter poetry board competition.
sorry but it's just the way it is

can you copy and pste the image please
As far as novices missing out, I would think novice or not, if the poem was nice enough it would be included and if not, long term commitment to the site would probably eventually lead to something that was nice enough. For the legions of "pop-ins" and "pop-outs", I don't think they really represent the site anyway.
All of this is of course my opinion, but I tend to see things in simple fashions.
