the easier things are.
You don’t have to think much
about anything;
people aren’t suspicious of you,
and you just stumble into things
simply
that would make life worth living
for those that can hardly think
for unhappy thinking.
Yet, being dumb,
you’re rarely happy.
You take things for granted,
don’t appreciate what you have,
and go chasing after something
you think will truly make you happy.
The things you neglect fall apart.
Things you chase fall apart
the moment you catch them.
Many people would be happy
if they could have what you do.
But if you can’t be happy, there’s no reason
anyone else should.
So all those that love you
and all those that love the ones that love you:
they share in your misery.
And those that envy you
mimic your misery,
attracting enduring love
of their own.
