Many faces

Sleep's sometimes
so swift and light,
wings of a humming bird.
The wakeful mind weaves
a nest of wispy dreams.

Sleep could be a cozy cat,
purring so softly,
spreading the doze;
until you close your eyes
and give in to the soothing caress.

Sleep comes seldom,
slithering as a python,
twining itself around
in a bone-crushing grip
a long-needed kip
undeniable at last.

I want to participate in this NaPM event.
I know this one is a poor try, will do my best in the coming ones.

Actually, there is a lot to like about this, especially the last stanza. Not saying you had to take the whole ark and leave no poor beasties for the rest of the poets . . .
