If you know you're going to feel like crap the next day, why push your already low threshold for alcohol? It's just a very perplexing question that I have on my mind lately.I don't drink to get drunk. That's not to say that I haven't been drunk, but it will never be my sole purpose. I am usually the designated driver anyway, and I'd never drink and drive. I do, however, quite enjoy being in an atmosphere where people are letting go of their inhibitions and just enjoying themselves. None of the people I associate with are aggressive or depressive drunks, they just get happier and slightly more ridiculous. As for hangovers -- if you pace yourself and stay well hydrated, there's no real problem. Generally the next day is a washout because of tiredness though, so we just don't do it if there's something important on -- and that definitely includes work.
But I could be terribly boring. I don't smoke either, and I don't feel any desire to touch illicit drugs. I still manage to enjoy myself. Go figure.
It could be worse
