It looks like an accent. Or like single quotes. I thought maybe the auto-correct did it, mistaking it for a single quote. Like when someone writes: 'bove or 'bout.
Something like: the man‘s; then something like: the cat’s.
Something like: the man‘s; then something like: the cat’s.
