you bastard could be punk love poem. But I assume the female voice on the phone was not inclined,
In the 80ies there was female punk band (at Frankfurt) and one of their songs was: Hau ab, du stinkst!. (Fuck off, you stink !)
Compared to that I find "bastard" quite acceptable.
