Poetry had always been around, at home, mostly with rollicking good rhythms, Romantic or Victorian, and school also did this-- we ''did'' several Shakespeare plays, in the short time I was at proper school, and you would have to learn various speeches by heart. To that was added a couple of tales from Chaucer, all meter, meter,meter. Later, between 15-18, I studied French, Latin and English verse, and I think in that time, I started, and can still remember fragments. My brother took to calling me Shelley, and perhaps with good reason. I think I was more interested in being a great play-wright--and how! But the world was spared.....
