Nope, not always. Some people just think "tick tock tick tock" is the only possibility when it comes to meter, and then force their rhymes into nasty inverted syntax that makes you want to rip your eyeballs out.

And I will freely admit that after reading copious amounts of vomitous (may or may not be a real word)emo-drug-cutter-sex laced-abuse 'poems' with nasty inverted syntax cliche ridden rhyming poetry I now have a Pavlovian like reflex that causes my brain to shrink in on itself and my eyeballs start screaming for help when I come across rhyming poetry.
So I am generally biased against it. It's like my personal version of prejudice. I don't give two shits who you are what you look like or where you came from, but if you write what I just described above I can't take you seriously.

I'm not intentionally being a bitch. Honest.

As I said before, I've encountered some very good modern pieces here that rhyme, but I attribute that to the tuts and those of you who excel at such things.
I do not, and I openly cop to that.
