And then bumbling on up behind me
The flashing lights we've all seen before 
I heard a speaker say please pull over
That's when I put the pedal to the floor

I never did make it home
Hitting a pole with my car
And shattering all my bones

They had impounded by car
At least I finished my scone

Nice one. Read a couple of times before I registered the (blue moon) title properly. It works well with the song.

Now important stuff -- are you pronouncing scone as in phone or as in gone? 

It's a big deal in Britain between North and south. I say it the correct Northern way as in gone, the other way sounds terribly posh.
