her hood was red
her basket full
she walked the woods
she wasn't dull

his fur was black
his tail was long
he was hungry
he was strong

her eyes were shot
her ears stone deaf
she was lonely
near to death

oh granny, what big ears you have
oh granny, what big eyes you have
ay our lass, i got em off the wolf
lyin' in the corner

next to the shotgun.

30 days, pieces of cakes,
Testing drama, flexing jokes,
Embellished lies, half assed facts,
Appeasing prompted subjects
With strophes, stanzas, and pure lucks,
When rusty like riding bikes.
I'm a big fan of the dukes
But the best fairy tale writer around is definitely the quix.

Queen of New York

Blush overly applied to sagging cheeks,
lipstick reddens pale mouth,
where songs once thrived.

The first drink goes down, lady-like,
nothing spilled on her frayed blouse,
high heels still anchored to swollen feet.

It would be easy to blame alcohol
for her reeking breath, off tune chorus,
louder than any love you've ever made.

Then he walks in, sits next to her
without speaking, slides a hand under table
and reminds the world that there's still tonight.

Striving (Inspired by The Girl-Fish)

Spoiled by her gift of beauty and her folks’
indulgence, poor girl’s heedlessness decants
her with sad creatures in a sunken world
with no escape except through dangerous
employment by its fallen queen.  She learns
of other creatures’ virtues, and her strengths:
invention, to endure and fascinate.
This girl returns, surrendering her prize,
restores those fallen souls, uplifting them
to light and life.  Almost by accident,
she finds her beauty’s curse may be redeemed
by service, striving and shared memory.
