Stubborn
I am Stubborn;
the product of pride
and a calloused mind—
a robber of time,
fixed and static.
You cannot move me.

for some reason, I've been thinking of puns in this one - the 'stub-born' wee bit o' eraser at the blunt end of the pencil, the 'rubber' of time, and the 'moving finger' of the Rubaiyat.
Oh, and rubbing callouses the paper....
On a serious note - perhaps a bit wordy for a short poem ('time's robber'? 'of pride and a calloused mind'? etc).

I agree with Achebe. A bit much, for something supposedly short -- calloused mind says pride to me, and robber of time feels a bit cliche, but not exactly: of that first series, I am sure two lines can be removed. As for that second, though there is a bit of shock, it's nothing new, to the poem or to this stubborn mind.

You're both right. There's not much here beyond a wordy definition. I was playing a word game and got lost.
