Ooopss... I had it as "twinkling" when I wrote it and changed it to "flashing" at the last second.
I have a friend who regularly texts me with his UFO sightings that end with "I suppose it's that bloody Serious star again"

I agree with you regarding the spelling of the title, I was thinking too much about the word "serious" to realise the more obvious solution, a bit like the man looking for his coin I suppose.

I would agree with you that it is a plane Chris... but when it's still in roughly the same place two hours later then there can be only one conclusion...
... a helicopter.

Thank you, I must admit that it is a strange star, especially viewed from where I live. Because I live so far north Sirius is always very close to the horizon and therefore twinkles much more.
I enjoyed your rewrite of it also, more succinct, excellent thanks.
