gnomes back in the coffee shop
#1
Gnomes? In butterfly herbs?
woah. I am seeing gnomes,
is Stockholm's vacant kitchen?
Gretchen may ask me out on a date,
but why care whatever I see goes?

Oh Gretchen woes? Why, I
should ask myself? For thy
doesn't care all the much?
when gnomes are about?

Foam of the coffee drinks on my chin.
Good thing I am drinking tea at home.
I miss this place. I miss drinking
with such optimistic grace. I
miss the pace that this world
has left upon me. A dragon on the wall.
Gnomes in the halls.

What's going on in here... it's consistent enough, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what this is about. 2deep4me maybe. Even so, I like it, especially the final stanza was a soothing read and now I wanna drink some tea too.
Are you literally seeing gnomes or is it some kind of metaphor. Because I see gnomes all the fucking time especially in the winter.

There is much to appreciate in this thread; mostly the stretch I experience. I (like hardon) was pretty clueless with regard to message or meaning. hardon's critique stretched my critiquing abilities by demonstrating how to express bewilderment without offending or seeming insipid. After you explained that it was a glad to be home poem it started to make sense. That stretched me further ... helping me to realize that when I read poetry I have difficulty understanding, I should, perhaps, experiment, applying concepts or themes that might clarify a poem's intention ...
Thank you both; Bunx and hardon.

thou doth care in an absurd manner, a manner so absurd i write about it. fim i am glad i streched your imagination. i should have said drawf when describing the everyday assurances that can help me write a poem. inspiration. i am glad you look deeper into my poem and gave me such positive feedback Smile can't wait to read more from you
